Introducing Who Cares?, Conteur’s New Health and Social Care Podcast

For a long time, some of our most interesting and thought-provoking conversations about health and social care have happened in the office, between meetings, around campaigns and in the moments where we find ourselves unpacking what really makes a story land.

Over that time, we have often talked about how valuable it would be to capture those conversations and share them more widely. And with that in mind, the result was Who Cares?, a brand-new podcast from Conteur exploring the stories, challenges and conversations shaping health and social care.

Created by Conteur, Who Cares? brings together members of our team to discuss the role of communication, storytelling, reputation and marketing in a sector we have worked within for more than 14 years.

Hosted by our Account Director, Natasha Jones, Junior Account Manager, Lizzie Grover-Hinds and Senior Account Executive, Matilda Gillings, the podcast will explore what good communication looks like in the health and social care landscape today, and why it matters.

Why we created Who Cares?

At Conteur, we have always believed that the health and social care sector is full of stories worth telling.

Every day, care organisations are supporting people, families and communities through some of the most important moments in their lives. Stories of care, challenge, leadership, innovation and humanity. Stories that often sit behind the headlines, behind the policies and behind the day-to-day pressures facing providers, teams, families and communities.

But too often, those stories are not seen, heard or understood in the way they deserve to be.

In a sector where trust, reassurance and reputation matter deeply, communication and marketing have an important role to play. Families want to feel confident in the care their loved ones receive. Teams want to feel proud of where they work. Prospective employees want to understand the values and culture of an organisation before they apply. Communities, commissioners and stakeholders want to see evidence of impact.

That is why we created Who Cares?

The podcast gives us a space to talk more openly about the communications challenges and opportunities facing care organisations today, from how providers build trust with families to how they share stories with greater confidence, clarity and purpose.

What we will be talking about

Across the series, Who Cares? will explore the subjects shaping health and social care marketing, PR and communications right now.

Some conversations will be practical. Some will be opinion-led. Some may challenge the way things are currently done.

We will also be asking what makes a care story land, why some messages connect while others disappear, and how organisations can move beyond generic content to show the real people, purpose and personality behind their work.

Telling the health and social care sector’s stories better

Since 2011, Conteur has worked with organisations across health and social care, including care homes, home care providers, fostering agencies, social housing organisations and wider sector partners.

Over that time, we have seen how powerful communication can be when it reflects the real people behind an organisation. Whether through PR, video, photography, digital marketing or campaign strategy, we have always believed that strong storytelling can help care organisations build trust, strengthen visibility and connect more meaningfully with the audiences they need to reach.

Who Cares? is our way of opening up some of the conversations behind that work..

It is not about adding more noise to the sector. It is about taking the time to look closer at the stories, ideas and issues that require greater attention and exploring what better communication can look like for a sector that needs to be heard and understood.
